South Africa has the highest youth unemployment rate in the world with over 4,7 million unemployed youth, 1,2 million of whom are graduates who employers aren't hiring because they lack experience!
Each year 250,000 fresh graduates leave tertiary and enter the job market with high hopes of landing their dream job and helping out financially at home but find themselves either unemployed or underemployed stuck in a job that has nothing to do with the qualification they spent years and over R150,000 to attain.
For this reason we founded CareerStudent, an internship programme dedicated to helping to solve the greatest socio-economic challenge facing our nation: unemployment, specifically youth unemployment.
We partner with tertiary students to knock on doors on their behalf to arrange a tailor made internship opportunity that will help you get a foot in the door of your career.

Why a programme fee?
We believe that all students should have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and build their careers, however, if companies aren't hiring graduates who lack experience, we can't charge them to hire inexperienced, unqualified students, it's simple supply and demand.

However, running this student internship programme does come with costs, which is why we do have a program fee of R350. This fee helps us cover the expenses of maintaining the programme and providing support to our candidates. We understand that this fee may be a burden for some, but we believe it's necessary in order to place as many students as possible.
